Project Description

GENEVIÈVE STEELE

The Professional
For nearly 23 years Geneviève Steele has been a professional actor working in theatre, film, television and radio. Her work has taken her across Canada and the US as well as to Iran. Nominated for four Robert Merritt Awards as well an ACTRA Maritimes Award Geneviève is a hard worker who strives for excellence in all of her undertakings. She is a member of Canadian Actor’s Equity and ACTRA and sits on the Council of ACTRA Maritimes. She lived for ten years in Toronto and then moved back home to Halifax ten years ago. It was in Toronto where Geneviève first began working as an actor in a training capacity playing anything from a single mother trying to refinance her mortgage to a smoker trying to quit. In recent years Geneviève has been doing a lot of simulation for the medical world and is constantly amazed at the breadth of applications there are for this type of training and the value of it.

The Personal
Born in Montreal but raised and returned to Dartmouth, Geneviève has managed to keep her French language thanks to the efforts of her mother. Geneviève hopes in turn to give the gift of bilingualism to her two daughters. Along with her husband, singer/songwriter Ian Sherwood, she endeavours to tread softly on this planet and hopes their daughters will follow suit.

Celebrity Shine
Geneviève has had the pleasure of acting opposite Pierce Brosnan (Bag of Bones), Corey Monteith, Emily Hampshire (All the Wrong Reasons) and Billy Campbell (Copperhead) and has appeared in dozens of commercials. She once sold an opera subscription to Stuart McLean from The Vinyl Cafe.
